Baseball Recap: York Gets the Win

York won the last time they faced Glenbard West and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Dukes narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hilltoppers 4-2. That's two games straight that the Dukes have won by exactly two runs.

York got a great performance from Jack Lonergan as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Lonergan has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Fleming, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nick Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for York and bumps their season record up to 17-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Glenbard West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

York will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hilltoppers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
