Preview: Spring Grove Lions vs. Kingsland Knights
Spring Grove is 9-1 against Kingsland since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Spring Grove Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Kingsland Knights at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. Spring Grove is looking to tack on another W to their 14-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Spring Grove gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They breezed by Houston on the road to the tune of 82-34. Spring Grove's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Meanwhile, Kingsland put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 57-47 win over Wabasha-Kellogg. Given Kingsland's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Wabasha-Kellogg is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kingsland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Courtland Drury-DeBoer out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Drury-DeBoer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Max Erdman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Spring Grove's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Kingsland, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Everything came up roses for Spring Grove against Kingsland in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 59-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spring Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
