            Baseball Recap: Basalt Longhorns vs. Olathe Pirates        
        
		
        
        
            There's no place like home for Basalt, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Saturday. They were the clear victors by  an  18-3 margin over the Olathe Pirates on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Longhorns considering their one-run performance the  match before.
 Chris Hays was a  major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits. Those  eight  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with four  RBI.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Elias Schendler, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Those  two  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high.  Hagan Hamlet also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
 Basalt  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 14  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olathe only managed three  hits.
Basalt has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record  this season. As for Olathe,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 9-9.
 Looking ahead, Basalt will challenge Coal Ridge at 2:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their  tenth straight  win, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight. As for Olathe, they will face off against Grand Valley at 2:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
