League recap: Abingdon receives boost in rankings after winning week

Abingdon used a 3-1 record over the past week to move from 286 to 252 in the Illinois state rankings.
First place in Prairieland belongs to
Elmwood/Brimfield, which has compiled a 15-2 overall record to go with its 10-0 league record.
Farmington is in second place, three games behind with a 7-3 record in league play.
Cuba/Spoon River Valley's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. The Wildcats have given up a mere 263 hits on the year, while striking out 214 opposing hitters.
Jesse Shaw is the leader in that category with 90 Ks on the season.
