Basketball Game Preview: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs vs. Silver Lake Mustangs

The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Silver Lake Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-46 to Anselmo-Merna. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Coyotes 13-8 in the first quarter.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cohen Rohde, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Isaac O?Neill, who posted ten points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Silver Lake came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Flyers for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-31 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season.

Silver Lake pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.8 points. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller beat Silver Lake 57-48 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
