Softball Recap: Rivercrest Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rivercrest entered their tilt with Manila on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lions 10-4. While the Colts didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katelyn Ostendorf was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Hannah Higgins and Zoiey Fox did most of the damage at the plate: Higgins went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Fox went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that Fox has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Halyn Belford, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Rivercrest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Rivercrest's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Manila, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Rivercrest will challenge Trumann at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Manila, they will face off against Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
