Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Hillcrest's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hillcrest walked away with it. They came out on top against the Columbia Wildcats by a score of 46-37 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly nine points.

Despite the defeat, Columbia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Keller went 7-for-16 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Deleon, who posted two points in addition to seven boards, five assists, and four steals.

Hillcrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. Columbia moved to 14-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-46 win against Twin Falls on the 7th. As for Columbia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-62 victory against Lewiston on the 7th.
