Softball Recap: South Pemiscot's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

South Pemiscot dropped their record down to 23-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Oak Ridge Blue Jays, falling 14-1. The Bulldogs were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the nine matchups prior), but the Blue Jays' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Oak Ridge, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2. Considering they have won 17 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Oak Ridge's part, Kaelyn Deckerd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Deckerd has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Madyson Ruehling was incredible, going 1-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Kinsley Bogenpohl was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As of now, neither South Pemiscot nor Oak Ridge have any future games scheduled.
