Baseball Recap: Palmerton Blue Bombers vs. Bangor Slaters
Palmerton proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bangor Slaters, sneaking past 9-8. This was payback for the Blue Bombers, who suffered a 9-3 loss the last time these two teams met.
Cameron Pengelly made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

In other batting news, Alex Keiper was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Borger, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Palmerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive games dating back to last season.
The victory got Palmerton back to even at 2-2. As for Bangor, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Palmerton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-1 defeat against Southern Lehigh on the 28th. As for Bangor, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-6 win against Notre Dame-Green Pond on the 29th.
