Football Game Preview: Armijo Royals vs. Fairfield Falcons + Official Tickets

The Armijo Royals will face off against the Fairfield Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Armijo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Armijo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Johnson, posting a 62-11 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Korey Choyce was his usual excellent self, rushing for 178 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 219 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Tayjon Harrell (Tj) was Choyce's top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Armijo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 55 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 154.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Fairfield's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sacramento. While the Falcons had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Dragons 7-0.

Armijo will have to contain Tristen Smith as he made an impact in Fairfield's last game. He threw for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 63 yards.

Armijo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games. As for Fairfield, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
