Baseball Recap: Altamont's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Altamont dropped their record down to 15-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 11-0 to the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Indians, who until this contest were averaging 3.67 runs allowed.

As for Father McGivney Catholic, they pushed their record up to 26-2 with the win, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. Considering they have won 20 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Father McGivney Catholic's part, Mason Holmes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Holmes has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Omar Avalos and Isaac Wendler did most of the damage at the plate: Avalos went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Wendler went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The Indians are facing the Aces at the right time seeing as the Aces are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will take on Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
