Baseball Game Preview: Fairhope Pirates vs. Daphne Trojans

The Fairhope Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Daphne Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairhope's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Daphne's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Fairhope was able to grind out a solid victory over Baldwin County, taking the game 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Miller Humphries made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Humphries wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alex Herington, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Rock Gearhart was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Daphne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Foley on Friday.

Daphne now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Fairhope, their record now sits at 19-7.
