Softball Recap: Tennessee Wins Going Away Against South-Doyle

Tennessee never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against South-Doyle on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the South-Doyle Cherokees with a sharp 10-2 win.

Carly Compton made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Compton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaylie Hughes was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Fuel, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Tennessee back to even at 1-1. As for South-Doyle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tennessee will welcome John Battle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for South-Doyle, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sequoyah at 6:00 p.m. Sequoyah will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something South-Doyle surely won't give up without a fight.
