Football Game Preview: Leominster Blue Devils vs. Westborough Rangers + Official Tickets

Leominster has gone a perfect 6-0 against Westborough recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Leominster will be strutting in after a win while Westborough will be coming in after a loss.

Leominster is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 victory over Shrewsbury on Friday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Colonials recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Osiris Lopez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 335 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 77 yards and one score on only six carries. His passing game has become a key predictor of Leominster's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Ryan Ricker was Lopez's top target, picking up 154 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Leominster didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ricker and Javian Valdez.

Meanwhile, Westborough was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Wachusett Regional, falling 31-0. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 28th).

Leominster's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Westborough, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Leominster against Westborough when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 47-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
