Baseball Recap: Northeastern Gets the Win

After only two runs in their last matchup, Northeastern made sure to put some runs up on the board against Muncie Burris on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Owls a 31-0 shutout. The Knights have beaten the Owls the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Owls has come to flipping the script.

Northeastern got a massive performance out of Kaleb Kress, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Kress a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Seal, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Northeastern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Northeastern now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Muncie Burris, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will host Muncie Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Muncie Burris, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cowan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
