Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Olive Wildcats vs. South County Vipers

Mt. Olive is 1-6 against South County since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Mt. Olive Wildcats will get right back to it and host the South County Vipers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mt. Olive is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Staunton, falling 67-14. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, South County came up short against Riverton on Saturday and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, the Vipers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Hawks are ranked 99th).

South County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Mt. Olive, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
