Softball Recap: University Charter Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

University Charter waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Johnson Eagles get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. Considering the Trail Blazers have won four contests by more than 13 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lola Dixon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, University Charter got a massive performance out of Marissa Felus, who scored three runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Felus a new career-high. Rylee Egbert was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

University Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

University Charter pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Johnson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

University Charter will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Keith at 4:00 p.m. on April 3rd. Johnson also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Hatch at 4:00 p.m. on April 1st.
