Baseball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Spartans vs. Brooks

The Lawrence Academy Spartans will head out on the road to square off against Brooks at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lawrence Academy will be strutting in after a win while Brooks will be coming in after a defeat.

Lawrence Academy took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Mark's, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans skirted past the Lions 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Sam Campbell looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lawrence Academy's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Daven Allard, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Charlie Beauregard, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Brooks fell victim to Noble & Greenough and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 7-0. Considering the last time Brooks couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Lawrence Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Brooks, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Lawrence Academy skirted past Brooks 12-10 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
