Baseball Recap: Pearl City Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pearl City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Galena Pirates 8-7. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Parker Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Pearl City is undefeated when Allen posts three or more hits, but 10-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myles Freedlund, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Pearl City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

Pearl City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Pearl City's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Galena, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-7 record this season.
