Basketball Game Preview: Winona Wildcats vs. Mineola Yellowjackets

Winona is 0-10 against Mineola since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Winona Wildcats will welcome the Mineola Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Mineola took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Winona, who comes in off a win.

Winona is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Eustace by a score of 61-51 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Mineola was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 32-27 to Malakoff. The matchup marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Winona's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-13. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Mineola, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Winona was taken down by Mineola 57-27 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Winona was down 36-11.
