Recap: Shaw Raiders vs. Cairo Syrupmakers
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Shaw Raiders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They breezed by Cairo on the road to the tune of 53-25. The win was just what Shaw needed coming off of a 62-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Tiara Tucker was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Shaw's points. Quishyi Walcott was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Shaw's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Cairo, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Shaw will take on Westover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cairo, Cairo and Thomas County Central will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thomas County Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cairo in Georgia (Thomas County Central is ranked 50th, while Cairo is ranked 423rd).
