Recap: Bishop McGuinness Villains vs. Murphy Bulldogs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Bishop McGuinness Villains can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Murphy on Friday, falling 59-28. While losing is never fun, Bishop McGuinness can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Murphy is ranked 103rd).
Despite the loss, Bishop McGuinness still got an impressive performance from Alex Waterfield, who threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns.
It was another big night for Hunter Stalcup, who rushed for 284 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Stalcup has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Cameron Clem was another key contributor, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Bishop McGuinness' defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Murphy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Bishop McGuinness does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Murphy will head out on the road to face off against Mount Airy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
