Softball Recap: Fort Hill Sentinels vs. St. James Saints

Fort Hill was the 9-8 winner over St. James when they last played one another back in May of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Hill Sentinels' rough 20-4 defeat to the St. James Saints on Thursday might stick with them for a while.

For St. James' part, Lily Schlotterbeck was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Schlotterbeck was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with a home run, six RBI, and four runs.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Griffith was a standout: she went 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Tenley Mullendore, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
