Basketball Recap: Yorktown Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Anderson, Yorktown was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They strolled past the Wes-Del Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 66-50. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Yorktown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Burkholder, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Burkholder a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ephraim Daugherty, who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Yorktown was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wes-Del only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, Wes-Del had strong showings from Josiah Love, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, and Julian Carpenter, who posted 12 points.

Yorktown's record now sits at 4-7. As for Wes-Del, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Yorktown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-25 victory against Cowan on the 17th. Wes-Del has also already played their next matchup (against Shenandoah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
