League recap: Steinbrenner scores huge upset over Chamberlain

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Steinbrenner, who took down 204th ranked Chamberlain, 35-28.

Gaither moved up to 175 from 219 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 7A District 7. The Cowboys climbed the ranks as a result of besting Tampa Bay Tech 35-32.

Vu Le was the best wideout in the league this week as Gaither bested the Titans. Le tallied six receptions for 157 yards. Shug Oyegunle helped Gaither's passing attack out by catching four balls for 136 yards.

Matt Iovine put up the best numbers through the air as Wiregrass Ranch lost to Freedom. He finished with one completions for 40 yards and 40 touchdowns. Iovine's favorite target this week was Ryan Shea, who caught three passes for 75 yards.

Deon Thompson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 135 yards as Tampa Bay Tech defeated Tampa Bay Tech. Teammate Deon Cain added to the ground attack by rushing for 58 yards.

Alex McGough provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cowboys bested Jayson Roberts' team. He completed 15 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns and also ran for 10 yards.

6-foot-3 quarterback McGough of Gaither is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1541. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. On the ground, the Chiefs' Xavier Johnson has rushed for 763 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jon Marc Carrier. The Steinbrenner star has 20 catches for 485 yards.

The Cowboys and the Titans played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Cowboys eventually emerging with a 35-32 victory. McGough in the win.
