Softball Recap: Hiawatha Wins Going Away Against St. Marys

Hiawatha barely beat St. Marys the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hiawatha put the hurt on St. Marys with a sharp 9-1 win on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 on Thursday.

Brynnan Boye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Twombly, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hiawatha has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs this season. As for St. Marys, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
