Softball Recap: Williamsville South's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Williamsville South fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Williamsville East on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flames by a score of 6-4. The Billies' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Alyssa Budzinski spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alyssa Siegmann made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Williamsville South's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Williamsville East, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6.

Coming up, Williamsville South will challenge Frontier at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Falcons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Williamsville East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
