Preview: Millersburg Indians vs. Susquenita Blackhawks
Millersburg is 10-0 against Susquenita since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Millersburg Indians have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Susquenita Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Millersburg ended up a good deal behind Annville-Cleona and lost 59-42. While losing is never fun, Millersburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Annville-Cleona is ranked 126th).
Despite the defeat, Millersburg had strong showings from Kamdyn Heintzelman, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Chase Romberger, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Heintzelman scored a full 47.6% of Millersburg's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Millersburg were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Susquenita's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 42-37 to Newport, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Susquenita has not had much luck with Newport recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Millersburg bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Susquenita, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Millersburg was able to grind out a solid win over Susquenita when the teams last played back in January, winning 64-53. Does Millersburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Susquenita turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
