Baseball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Lapel Bulldogs

The Tipton Blue Devils will face off against the Lapel Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Tipton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Sheridan by a score of 15-11. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Nick Nasser was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Caleb Hare was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tipton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Lapel never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Elwood 21-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 19 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Lapel is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Tipton, their win bumped their record up to 9-15.

Tipton might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Lapel when the teams last played on May 1st. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
