Basketball Recap: Broughton Capitals vs. Enloe Eagles
Broughton lost to Enloe back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Broughton Capitals pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the Enloe Eagles. Given the Capitals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Eagles are ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Broughton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sam Freeman, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Freeman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Fitzgerald, who posted eight points.
Broughton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enloe only posted three assists.
Enloe's loss came despite strong showings from Gui Wilkins and John Brown. Wilkins scored 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Brown went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points. Daylen Chamblee was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.
Broughton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Enloe, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
