Basketball Game Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Liberty Common Eagles

The Platte Valley Broncos will take on the Liberty Common Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Platte Valley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Brush. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Broncos have suffered since February 2, 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Liberty Common duked it out with SkyView Academy on Saturday. Liberty Common fell to SkyView Academy 61-57.

Platte Valley will have to contain Pierce Richardson as he made an impact in Liberty Common's last game. He went 12-for-26 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The game was Richardson's tenth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Clay, who went 7-for-15 en route to 16 points.

Even though they lost, Liberty Common smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Platte Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Liberty Common, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
