Weeki Wachee takes loss despite strong efforts from Isaac Priester and Jean Garcia

Recap: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Citrus Hurricanes

The Weeki Wachee Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-48 to Citrus. If Weeki Wachee hoped to take revenge for the 70-62 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Jean Garcia and Isaac Priester certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Garcia dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Priester scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Garcia hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Matthew Hazivasilis, who scored four points along with two steals and two blocks.

Even though they lost, Weeki Wachee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Weeki Wachee has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Citrus, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.

Weeki Wachee will take on Central at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 68.6 points per game. Citrus won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chiefland at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Chiefland is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
