Recap: Darien Blue Wave vs. Stamford Black Knights
The Darien Blue Wave pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Stamford 63-59. While losing is never fun, Darien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Stamford is ranked 13th).
Stamford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ejai Presley led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Presley hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Damar Taylor, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Darien's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Stamford, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Darien on the road again on Friday and play against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully St. Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday. As for Stamford, they will be playing at home against Staples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Staples is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.9 points per game.
