Volleyball Recap: Arline Ream and Katelyn Brayton Secure Win for Poly

Poly had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Paloma Valley Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

Poly had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-22, 25-15, 25-19.

Leading Poly to victory were Katelyn Brayton and Arline Ream. Brayton had 27 digs and seven assists, while Ream had 21 assists and ten digs. That's the most assists Brayton has posted since back in September.

Paloma Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Abigail Johnston, who had eight digs and three aces, and Sophia Stoyer, who had 18 assists and eight digs. Johnston is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Poly's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Paloma Valley, their loss ended a nine-match streak of away wins and brought them to 21-4.

Poly and Paloma Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bears (ranked 135th) will meet Arlington (ranked 793rd) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Paloma Valley will face off against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (146 vs. 382).
