Softball Recap: Jimtown Beats Peru for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Jimtown came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Peru Tigers. This was payback for the Jimmies, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lilly Gaugler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skyler Pello, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendal McPhee, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Jimtown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jimtown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Jimtown has already played their next match, a 4-1 loss against Varsity Opponent on the 26th. As for Peru, they will challenge Southwood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
