Preview: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Rushville-Industry Rockets
Astoria/VIT is 2-8 against Rushville-Industry since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Astoria/VIT Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Rushville-Industry Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Astoria/VIT is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Astoria/VIT suffered their biggest loss since November 22, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 49-20 defeat at the hands of North Mac. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Astoria/VIT has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Astoria/VIT struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Rushville-Industry pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 88-67 walloping at the hands of Beardstown. While losing is never fun, Rushville-Industry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while Beardstown is ranked 278th).
Astoria/VIT has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Rushville-Industry, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Astoria/VIT came out on top in a nail-biter against Rushville-Industry in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 52-49. Does Astoria/VIT have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rushville-Industry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
