Basketball Recap: Walsh Comes Up Short

After flying high against Manzanola last Friday, Walsh came back down to earth. The Walsh Eagles fell to the Wiley Panthers 51-47. The Eagles have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Rhett McDonald went supernova for Wiley, going 10 for 13 en route to 27 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. McDonald's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grant Mauch, who posted five points and 11 assists.

Walsh now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Wiley, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Walsh has already played their next matchup, a 46-37 loss against Primero on the 25th. As for Wiley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-19 victory against Deer Trail on the 25th.
