Streator dropped their record down to 8-18 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilmington Wildcats. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 12-3 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Mya Zavada was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Talty, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Wilmington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
On Wilmington's side, they got a massive performance out of Madisyn Rossow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two runs gave Rossow a new career-high. Addison Billingsley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
While Streator had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
