Football Recap: Adrian Huesca Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hughson, Ceres was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They managed a 28-22 victory over the McNair Eagles. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but the Bulldogs were the better team in the second half.

Ceres' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adrian Huesca led the charge by rushing for 72 yards and one score. Alex Alvarez was in the mix too, providing the Bulldogs with two TDs.

Ceres didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aiden Bowen, David Rodriguez, Caelen Eskridge, and Nathaniel St Macias picked up one apiece. Eskridge got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

McNair lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Taevion Gibson, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Waters, who picked up 125 receiving yards and one score.

The win got Ceres back to even at 1-1. As for McNair, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ceres will face off against Buhach Colony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McNair, they will take on Tokay at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season.
