Volleyball Recap: Bloom-Carroll Finds Playoff Glory Versus Independence

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bloom-Carroll walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Independence 76ers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Bloom-Carroll took every set by at least 19 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-1, 25-6, 25-0.

Kylynne Sollberger was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 13 aces and four digs. Those 13 aces gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sienna Hogue, who had seven digs and five aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Bloom-Carroll was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 28 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Bloom-Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 22-1. As for Independence, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Coming up, Bloom-Carroll will take on Linden-McKinley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Independence will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' match: after the Bulldogs face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Independence again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
