Basketball Game Preview: Alton Comets vs. East Carter Redbirds

The Alton Comets will take on the East Carter Redbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Alton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Bakersfield with a sharp 55-32 win two weeks ago. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, East Carter waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over the Fightin' Tigers. Given the Redbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Fightin' Tigers are ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alton's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for East Carter, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Alton came up short against East Carter in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 66-58. Can Alton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
