Softball Recap: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. Martin County Gators
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Eastern Wayne couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Martin County Gators by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Mallory Reed was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Eastern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Martin County, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 21-4 record this season.
