Basketball Recap: Graham Valburg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Onaga over Jefferson County North

After flying high against Flint Hills Christian on Tuesday, Onaga came back down to earth. The Buffaloes came up short against the Jefferson County North Chargers on Friday, falling 61-36. The loss put an end to the Buffaloes' undefeated start to the season.

Onaga lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Graham Valburg, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Koy Nider, who had 12 points and six boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Onaga fell to 2-1. As for Jefferson County North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Onaga will venture away from home to take on Jackson Heights at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson County North, they will be home for the holidays to greet Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy on Tuesday. The Chargers will be up against the Ravens' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
