MaxPreps Top 25 California high school football scores: No. 2 St. John Bosco beats No. 3 Servite

Braves improve to 3-0 after beating Trinity League rival, Servite.

In the biggest game of the week No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) beat No. 3 Servite (Anaheim) for the ninth consecutive time to improve to 3-0. Sophomore tight end/defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei dominated on both sides of the ball catching two touchdowns and recording a sack in the 38-28 victory.

The Braves outscored the Friars 35-21 in the second half.

Four other Top 25 matchups were featured this week.

No. 7 Sierra Canyon won its second consecutive game after losing its season opener against the Braves beating No. 11 Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) 42-0. Junior quarterback Daniel Duran threw for 283 yards and three scores while 2021 Virginia Tech signee DJ Harvey had 129 yards receiving and two touchdowns. 



The Trailblazers have outscored their last two opponents, 98-0.

No. 8 Alemany (Mission Hills) improved to 2-0 after beating No. 10 Bishop Amat (La Puente) 47-35. Junior quarterback Dylan Gebbia threw for 357 yards and accounted for four touchdowns while four-star wide receiver Kevin Green hauled in seven receptions for 174 yards and a score. Junior running back Floyd Chalk added 180 yards rushing and four touchdowns. 

Malachi Nelson and No. 9 Los Alamitos beat No. 21 Edison (Huntington Beach) 27-20 to improve to 3-0 and No. 17 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) cruised past No. 23 St. Augustine (San Diego) 41-14 in the Holy Bowl.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) improved to 2-0 with a dominant 49-7 win against Orange Lutheran (Orange) and face Trinity League rival Servite next week on April 3.

Four-star USC signee Ceyair Wright and No. 15 Loyola (Los Angeles) held off up-and-coming St. Bernard (Playa del Rey) 28-24 after Brayden Zermeno connected with Peter Vanis from 23 yards out with :33 left to take a four-point lead.
