South Grand Prairie waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Lamar Vikings 56-36. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Vikings are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Erin Marrs. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 6 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Marrs continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Allen, who posted three points and eight rebounds.

South Grand Prairie's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Lamar, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.

The future could be bright for both South Grand Prairie and Lamar: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. South Grand Prairie will try to hand Grand Prairie their 18th-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
