Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Mission South Raiders vs. Lawrence Lions

The Shawnee Mission South Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Lawrence Lions on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Shawnee Mission South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Shawnee Mission Northwest, who was ranked first at the time (Shawnee Mission South was ranked second). Shawnee Mission South fell 79-68 to Shawnee Mission Northwest on Friday. The loss put an end to the Raiders' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lawrence duked it out with Shawnee Mission Northwest on Saturday. Lawrence was outmatched by Shawnee Mission Northwest and fell 65-26. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shawnee Mission South fell to 13-1. As for Lawrence, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Shawnee Mission South couldn't quite finish off Lawrence in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 62-60. Can Shawnee Mission South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
