Basketball Recap: Lamar County Takes a Loss

Lamar County played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Putnam County War Eagles, falling 92-67. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the War Eagles are ranked 50th).

Jmari Greene was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 en route to 22 points along with eight steals and five assists for Putnam County. Those eight steals gave Greene a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamaud Woodson, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points.

Lamar County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Putnam County, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Jasper County the next time they take the court. Lamar County will host Jasper County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Putnam County will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
