Chris Lopez Turns in Season-Best Performance

Morenci was led to victory by Chris Lopez, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Lopez rushed for 167 yards on only 15 carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

With the win, Morenci broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. Lopez will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Sabino on Friday.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Jacob Newborn. Newborn did his part (and then some), rushing for 58 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 36 yards and a touchdown for the 'W'. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 57 yards.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Newborn and Pusch Ridge Christian Academy will challenge Thatcher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Diddy Lupita Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, Morenci got the W thanks in part to Diddy Lupita playing the best football he has all season. Lupita rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.

On the season, Lupita has run in 2 touchdowns while averaging 17.6 rushing yards per game.
