Baseball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

If Belmont was riding high fresh off their 16-5 takedown of Wheeler on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals lost 11-1 to the Mooreville Troopers on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Troopers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Belmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Pharr, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Mooreville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

While Belmont had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
