Addison King leads a balanced attack to beat Richlands

Recap: Swansboro Pirates vs. Richlands Wildcats

The Swansboro Pirates lost to the Richlands Wildcats back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Swansboro walked away with a 43-33 win over Richlands. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Swansboro.

Swansboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison King led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Malaya Beasley was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.

Despite the defeat, Richlands saw an underclassman step up: Mia Wells scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Wells has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tashi Allen, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.

Swansboro's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Richlands, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swansboro will square off against West Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Swansboro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Richlands, they will head out on the road to challenge Dixon at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Richlands is facing Dixon at the right time seeing as Dixon is stuck on a 11-game losing streak.
